Calymea sits on the banks of the picturesque Shoalhaven River.
Calymea is 1hr from Wollongong 2hrs from Sydney and 2hrs from Canberra.
The canoeing on the river is relaxing and peaceful with many of the Sydney private schools visiting mid week through out the year to soak up the experience.
The Bass fishing is hot in fresh water.
The water temperature in summer sits on 28deg, 26 deg in spring and Autumn
Calymea sits in a low rainfall area.
There are dozens of local lookouts which are spectacular.
The 40 min walk to Pulpit rock just before sunset and watch the sun go down with the river changing colour from black, blue, pink is an awesome sight, then walk back down with torch spotting the local inhabitants.
Yalwal goldfields are 15klms up the dirt road.
Things to see at the Goldfields are the mines, cemetery, the old crusher, the rail car, a swim at the falls below the causeway and a walk across the Danjerra dam wall. Stop for lunch at Danjerra Dam car park.
Pigeon house mountain is another great drive and walk a little further down the coast.
Back for a swim and fish in the river knowing your camping gear has been left in a safe secure camp area. Access to Calymea is limited to invitation only , it is not open to the public.
